I would strongly suggest that you find another teacher. Depending on availability in your town, you may want to research teachers in a nearby town. You may have to sacrifice and drive some distance for a good teacher. I suugest finding a Suzuki teacher. I believe this method is great for beginners. To start, visit the Suzuki Assocation of the Americas website: http://suzukiassociation.org
Click on "find a Suzuki teacher near you". You'll see the rest of the directions on the site.

Also, to learn a bit about the method you can read the following books:
I Can Play My Violin Just as Well as Jeremy Can!:The Suzuki Way /Margareth Keith
                             and
               Nurtured by Love /Shinichi Suzuki

I hope this helps!

 Hi,
I made a website for people who would like to learn violin from schratch. I think this will help you. I also think you better find a teacher who has his or her focus on the violin.

Check this out: http://violinfromscratch.com
