I started teaching myself the violin about a
month ago. All has been well except I can`t
use the E-string at all. It`s lower than the
A string, and when I try to tune it higher,
I feel it`s going to break. Now that I think
about, I don`t know what posting here`ll help
but it`s worth a shot. Help me figure out what
I`m doing wrong!

Just so you know, the E-string is the string with the most tension, so it may feel like it is going to break when you are tuning. However, as the other replies say, go and get it sorted by a music shop and everything`ll be ok!
Hope this helps
