‘In a Soul’ is for the advanced pianist who may be looking to learn something more complex than the likes of Einaudi or Nyman but simpler and more accessible than Debussy or Ravel. I created a piece that would satisfy both of these styles, that would remain engaging and elaborate throughout but communicate memorable themes and ideas to the average listener. Equally, my own stylistic imprint ties these influences together. In parts, I used aspects of minimalism and tried to emulate film music, because it was important to preserve a modern and appealing sound and reach a wide variety of audiences.
