Hanako first studied piano from the age of three, and began clarinet at the age of fourteen. In 2003, she performed in the Kansai New Musicians` Concert.

In the winter of 2005-2006, she took up residence in Boston. Beginning with a performance in the Berklee College of Music concert "Sing Sing Sing", Hanako gained an interest in jazz. In 2006, she performed in "A Chamber Music Concert with Tomorrow`s Young Musicians" in Karuizawa. She first performed the commissioned piece "Kazemoyo" at the Ellis Chamber Music Concert in 2007. Hanako was selected in the Oikawa Music Company`s 16th New Musician Audition, winning the Best New Performer award.
