In this lesson we will learn to read three open strings on your guitar using standard notation.

Study this picture for a bit:



These are the first three strings on your guitar in the order of 3rd, 2nd & 1st.

Notice how the note "G" is on the second line from the bottom, the same line the treble clef, or "G" clef is curled around. Counting up from the "G" we come to the space for "A" (more about that note later) then the next line is "B". Notice how the lines and spaces are like a ladder going up. If we do the same from the "B" then we have the space "C", the line "D", and the next space is "E". your guitars first string!
