McCoy Tyner - McCoy Tyner-Style So What Chord Inversions

McCoy Tyner - McCoy Tyner-Style So What Chord Inversions for Piano Riff Lesson

This piece is part of our McCoy Tyner Piano Licks Compilation

  • "So What" chords are the ones you can hear in the A and B sections of the Miles Davis's tune "So What".
  • These are two equal chords played from the different note of the scale.
  • McCoy Tyner often plays these chords in such tunes as "Contemplation" or "Passion Dance".
  • In this example we use "So What" chord inversions. Inversions are very useful to spread your chord vocabulary.
  • All chords have the same function (all Dm7) but at the same time sound different.
Tempo: 99BPM
