About 'Symphony no. 40 1st mvt'
Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (biography)
January 27, 1756 , December 5, 1791
Salzburg , Vienna
A child prodigy, Mozart wrote his first symphony when he was eight years old and his first opera at 12. He went on to write some of the most important masterpieces of the Classical era, including symphonies, operas, string quartets and piano music.
The composition occupied an exceptionally productive period of Mozart's life of just a few weeks in 1788, during which time he also completed the 39th and 41st symphonies.
The first theme is well known, and it also appears in the first movement of his Piano Concerto No. 21, which he had written 3 years before this symphony, in 1785.
