A child prodigy, Mozart wrote his first symphony when he was eight years old and his first opera at 12. He went on to write some of the most important masterpieces of the Classical era, including symphonies, operas, string quartets and piano music.
The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote, K. 620) is an opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to a German libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. The work is in the form of a Singspiel, a popular form that included both singing and spoken dialogue. The work premiered in 1791 at Schikaneder's theater, the Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden in Vienna. |
This aria "O Isis Und Osiris" comes from Act 2 Scene 1 where Tamino praises the gods Isis and Osiris, asking them to protect Tamino and Pamina.
