The Artist:
Famous for a handful of popular pieces including the Pavane, Dolly Suite, Requiem, Berceuse for violin. His music is characterized by unusual harmonies and modulations
It was originally written for piano and chorus, but soon it was adapted for orchestra.
The pavan was a sixteenth- and seventeenth-century court dance of Italian origin, in duple meter, and stately in tempo and spirit.
