Im just a little curious as to what a mute is and what it`s purpose is.

Also if anyone has a online store for musicical goods( instruments and accesories) that they like and trust if you wouldnt mind sharing.

The mutes are small objects that you place on the bridge of the instrument. They muffle the sound a little bit and change it, particularly in the upper register. You can find mutes (and a lot of other stuff) at www.sharmusic.com.
