Hey since i started playing picc im finding it really hard to relax my lip on the upper register on flute does anyone know of any good exercises that could help getting my tone back on top register and also to play loud without tightening my embochure? Thank you

Hi Kym
This is probably one of the most difficult aspects of flute/picc playing.
Here is how I help my students with this. Play a lower note full volume, then slur up an octave playing the upper note much much softer, this is called an octave exercise.
The upper note will not come out softly unless your embochure is relaxed and focused in order for your jaw to adjust the airstream upward and forward.
If the upper note comes out too loud, you are probably overblowing and too tense.
I would reccomend starting this exercise on lower notes then gradually work your way up the flute, and only do it for a few minutes at a time.
email me if you have questions.
good luck
