I just finished a 4P Gemeinhardt that plays pretty out of tune.
It does not have a cleaning rod with a mark.
Does someone have .001 range caliper measurement so I can make my own tuning rod?
Or possibly a weblink that has models and specs listed.

And do other piccolos have approximately the same tuning marks?
Thanks

I am suprised that you don`t know that if you work on instruments. Eeekkk!

The hash mark should be 1cm from base. The thickness/material doesn`t matter so long as it fits in the piccolo.

Maybe you shouldn`t be working on instruments. I sure hope that you aren`t in business.

Sorry for not sounding professional. I have been in business for a few months and this is my first piccolo job.

I know I cannot be expected to know every detail of a business directly after starting one.

At least I have the ambition to find the proper information so I may properly setup an instrument before I give it back to the customer.

I have tuned it with a tuner but since I have never played a piccolo I do not trust my embroucher and would rather use the factory setting.

All the stores in my area do not carry piccolo rods. I can easily make one, as many of my tools are. Instead of making the customer wait for me to order a rod for the sole purpose of tuning it, I can ask here for the measurement.

Oh my.... you just tried to fix a piccolo and you can`t even play one? Not good. I am glad that I am not your customer.

If you read my post I plainly state I can play it, in tune with a tuner even.

What is your point with all the criticism?

Defenestrated, I think you are being confused as being someone else.

FYI - Defenestrated used to be "1234567...", not the repair tech we all know and love.

What repair tech do we all know and love? I wouldn`t speak for everyone on that issue.

Maybe this thread was a smoke screen?

Well I did 1cm and it wasnt too bad. 1.2cm is what I used to get it to play right on tune. But I still would rather use the manufactures specs.

I had an old crochet hook about as thick as a pencil, works beautifully. I really didnt wanna spend money on a cleaning rod just for a repair I would rarely see anyway.

Yeah, probably because you won`t get anymore business after messing up that one. Mawhahahahahahaha!!!
