As was previously stated, a while back this sort of thread was started (actually on a different, now defunct, forum). Some people did not like/agree with what they read, so a HUGE, vulgar, disgusting attack started. It actually crashed the forum!

Since specific location/identification (such as name/city/state/country) had been divulged, some people ended up being personally attacked. It was a very dangerous situation.

It has also happened on this forum, with a somewhat different twist. This is why it is important to have some level of anonymity. There are extremely strange weirdos out there that are lurking about. Having to register has probably added some level of security, but we must remember that it is not even close to fool-proof.

The reality is, you must be very careful.

Micron, I am not relatively new here, and what I meant was: why would you bother to reply to a topic asking where you are from if you are not going to say where you are from? It makes no sense. You might as well just not post in it! Then you also would not be revealing where you are from.

I don`t see how saying what country you are from would allow anyone to find you anyway, as that narrows it down to what, several million people?
