We do know that Lera's first language is not english, but there have been other circumstances besides the bad spelling to lead us to this problem... I find it really pathetic, all of it, but I am not going to leave the forum just because I might have a problem with it. I did that once already a year or two ago and I realized what a mistake that was. I think you would remember me as being Jessie, Mrs. Carbohydrate, and I left because everyone started fighting about silly things and I didn't think it was "mature." Well, I have realized that being mature all the time is impossible. Yeah, talking about flutes on a flute forum would be great, but, if everyone has to be stiff and professional ALL the time, we would not have more than a handful of memebers...

Making fun of one another, especially in so brutal a manner, is not getting us anywhere; in fact, it is only hurting us. (I hope I am not the only one who sees this as being entirely stupid in terms of something to fight about...) If we are all going to be hypocrates, fine. I know I am not the only one fed up about this and, for one of the first times since re-joining the forum, I am going to come right out and say what I think instead of acting like I have no backbone.

If you think about it, we are grown adults and we are fighting like elementary children... over the small flaws of a sixteen year old girl...

i mean really. if everyone picked on everyone else for something they did we would all be in a world of hurt. and i was beginning to think this forum was on of the few that had no drama. one just cannot escape the madness. learn to accept each others differences. or at least dont get uptight when we joke around about them.... lera doesnt throw a hissy fit everytime someone mentions her spelling... i remember like, a year ago, i asked some advice on a piece of music for solo and ensemble and because i said the piece was too easy for me, i was like, murdered on spot. i dont know. just dont get mad at everyone. were flutists. were better. well............... maybe not, but we can pretend we are!

Usually, we are not like this... I am embarrassed for those who come to this forum as new members because they really can't get a chance to see that we can be respectable people. We can all be so much better than how we are acting (myself included).

Musicians are passionate people: we play passionately, and we argue passionately... How about we all just call a forum truce or something and save ourselves some hurt in the end. (I know it sounds corny, but when worst comes to worst...) I'll be the first to put my pride away and say I am sorry for any harm I might have caused. (I can slowly feel my backbone slipping away...)

How fast can you play it?
If you are anywhere near 120-140, I wouldn't sweat it. Never perform a piece faster than your fingers can wiggle. As you know the difficulty is getting all the jumps correctly.

I hope that you read my last post completely on the 2nd page of this thread. In spite of everything, it is a fairly well researched answer.

i did bilbo, i read everything, and actually, followed your instructions, i think i was playing it too fast and losing the concept a little, my last posting, asking again for opinions regarding the speed of the movement was to make a point ...............

Actually the Rubank series (4 books) has some interesting concepts for being such an old war horse. The advantages are that it basically touches on most of the aspects of playing that a person could need. It very often does this with material that isn't commonly popular so that a student doesen't have a preconception of what it should sound like. They need to learn to work things out. The disadvantage is that it can get tedious for some who like to play things that are more fun.

The Rubank Advanced (Volumes 1 and 2) is layed out with sections. Scales, Melodic interperitation-duets. Articulation-mini etudes, finger exercises- one measure, embellishments-trills and turns, Solos..they actually get old for me fast. This layout is a mini version of the things or areas that flute teachers generally think students should practice daily. What it kind of leaves out is the tone exercises. At any rate, if one were going to be more advanced, one could buy individual books to develop each area and be more thorough but this book is a good introduction into these things. That being said, get some Etudes some day like the Melodious and Progressive studies or a book of Andersen studies (He wrote many).

As you notice, I used the bold print to quote what Kara was saying. I don't think it's appropriate for someone to take on the role of "forum mother" and dish out advice at the same time as picking on someone because of their language difficulties. I might not reply, but I read almost all the threads on the forum and I know the situation with Lera in the past. I don't think that's any excuse.

And for the record, I don't believe I was rude. Making a joke out of a member of the forum is rude, acting like a hysterical child when challenged is rude, but speaking my mind is certainly not.

I think it's childish to keep the argument running on and on and on, i have therefore requested 8notes to remove my original post as soon as possible
