You must think positive before a competition. Allowing yourself to think negatively will only cause you to mess up in your most shaky sections of the piece.

About the banana, something about the Phosphorus in it, or whatever chemical it contains. It's supposed to help you calm down.

good luck tomorrow

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that.
I hate it when teachers are like that. It is not like you messed up on purpose. Keep your head up girl and don't let her make you feel any worse then you do already.

Music4God,
I'm sorry your competition didn't go so well. I'm sorrier that you're afraid of being chewed out by your piano teacher.
Maybe you could ask your piano teacher about specific preparations for competitions, auditions, etc. She may be able to help by scheduling 'performances' of music that you already know well, in really low-key situations. Say a performance of an etude at the piano shop on a Tuesday afternoon, to start, and then build up from there.
It sounds like you have a tremendous amount of pressure put on you, by both yourself and your teacher, and that has to be really hard to deal with. The two ways to ease the pressure are 1) know the music really, really well and 2)be used to performing. Some people don't ever get over being nervous, but most people can, and I'm sure you can, too.
I hope you are feeling better!

OK, so...do you have an 80-year-old Grandma or even just sweet old neighbor, who can sit in your living room, behind a table, looking mean?

It is hard to see sometimes, that these judges are nice people, and really would like for you to do well.

you are learning a valuable lesson, always try to simulate the situation before doing any audition, performance or competition, then have people purposely distract you

So music4god, did you see your piano teacher yet? I hope she wasn't too hard on you.
