There was a topic on this about a year ago I think, but I couldn't find it. I know that some people have either changed flutes or upgraded since then.

I still play on my very muched loved Powell with either the Nagahara head or the Williams.I also play on a Miyazawa. They are both open holes, but I would rather just have them closed most of the time.

Yeah, I think I've changed since last time. I play on a Powell Siggy (adjusting screws!!) with a Nagahara headjoint. However, the Signature headjoint that came on my flute really isn't bad. It has more tone and is less freeblowing than the heads I played from Sonare flutes. It makes me wonder if Powell knows when they've made a good one and when they haven't, and assign the bodies accordingly.

I play a beat-up, rented Yamaha 211, but I'm aiming to upgrade to an Azumi AZ2000RE as soon as I can.

BTW, Hey Kara, what happened to your avatar?

I play on a Gemeinhardt 2sp, but I too hope to upgrade to either a Miyazawa or a Jack moore. I want to wait for a really nice flute instead of having an intermediate level flute.

Yamaha 581 (the equivalent of the current 674), Sterling silver tube, plated mech. inline G, B foot, open hole (primarily a back-up flute)

Tom Green 14k rose gold tubing, sterling (soldered) toneholes, ribs, keys, rods, rings, and crown, B foot, Offset G, open Hole, C-sharp trill, D-sharp roller. (primary concert flute)

I also keep a couple of other flutes on hand for different situations (like my Yamaha 221 for marching with), as well as a couple that I'm in the process of cleaning up and putting back in playing condition, though the last group I had to leave behind in CA when I moved to CO for college.

I have a Pearl Elegante with an Altus headjoint. I've been playing it less and the new alto (Jupiter) more, however. It feels just like a toy when I switch back after playing the alto for any length of time.

I've heard great things about the Azumi and look forward to trying one.

Powell 2100 with Q headjoint, open hole, b foot, non mechanical split e, gold springs. I just had an overhaul done and straub pads put on it (the original pads were not straubs, they were powell pads. the guy showed them to me and they were so thin, thinner than the straubs!). I am in love with my headjoint cut.

I too have changed flutes since the last survey. Back then I had a Yamaha 774H, but now I have a Muramatsu GX (open holes, offset G, split E, heavy wall tubing). I love it!

Kara - how are all of your cats doing?

Hi Catman.
All the cats are full of mischief as usual and doing great. I just bought them a little couch and they really like that. Now maybe they will stay off of the furniture! I am ALWAYS cleaning off hair everywhere! I bet you have the same problem. Noah was actually watching the movie "Cars" last night and tried getting to the cars on the screen. It was pretty funny! And how are your cats? Any new ones?
