i`m having trouble at F#. it keeps on dropping! my teacher tell me to use more strength to push my breath out. i end up wasting too much breath and the sound is quite flat. it happens also on G#. how can i improve it?

Do you mean that when you play thoes notes it goes flat?

If that`s the case, there are several option.

1) Think about blowing hot air into your flute with an "ah" shape in your mouth. Spin the air, but don`t push it too much.

2) Lift your eyebrows up, strangely enough, it helps.

3) Experiment with alternate fingerings, there are probably some good web sites out there, and your teacher might know some.

Remember: every flute is different and every person is different, even if your teacher can play F# in tune on his/her flute, it doesn`t mean it will work on your flute.

Best of luck,

F# is the worse note on the flute, its always sharp. Therefore lots of concentration on this notes. It requires huge diagram support. Work on the breathing exercise and keep playing. And try to practise that F# with ff and ppp.
