Are you trying to compete with us? On the message boards, it really doesn`t matter, we`re here to help each other, not to compare skill levels.

Maybe I`ll see you at a REAL topic,
Gumdrop

I fyou`ve been playing two years, you are probably at Grade one or two. Why don`t you buy a Grade two piece and see if you can play it?

what song you can play have no real bearing on how talented you are, I`m willing to bet that someone like james galway could play "mary had a little lamb" and sound far better than any of us here.

Well I think even a beginner could sit down and take one hard peice and practice it over and over and over untill it was good enough to paly and bragg about how good they are. so it really doesnt matter what songs you can play if you ask me.

You can play them. Maybe you think you can play them well. But maybe there are a million things you still dont` know about.

Pick up the pace if it`s poossible. Event he best flute player in the world could use improvement. There`s no point you`ll ever hit where you don`t need to work at it anymore. There`s no maximum greatness when it comes to flute.

Why does it matter what you can play? Why does it matter what other people can play? If you could be practicing harder, do it!

By the way, if you`re into bragging, try learning some songs written specifically for solo flute.

Grade levels for the flute have nothing to do with what songs you play.

They completely involve how many scales you can play from memory, and how fast you can play those. They also have a lot to do with how much rhythm you know, and which notes you can play. It`s all about the knowledge of your flute, and the notes and terms and rhythms that come with it.

It took me a good couple months to play a grade 8 version of Stars and Stripes Forever. Needless to say, that doesn`t make me a grade 8. It took work, and it improved my skills a bit, but I`m definitely not grade 8. You`d probably be a Grade 2.
