Thank you all over the sugesstions
Overall I have a great tech he is a professor in woodwind repair so i have no problem there in fact i bring my other flutes too him all the time and he fixes them better then anyone.
In high school i almost bought a pearl flute for 5000 but when we played tested it the sound was no better then my gemeinhardt lol. As for Muramatsu flute I will be trying a few different models and seeing if i like them or not .Sonare have a lot of problems so my teacher doesnt want to go that route but she like the powell head joint .I have played one before and fell in love with it but they dont make that model anymore and my friend wont sell her no matter how much i beg. I looked at a higher model of their flute but they were sold out We will try haynes i was looking at their flute last night i like the key style and every where i looked no bad comments on the model i was looking at.I am never getting another armstrong again i refuse too I used to like gemeinhardt but your right not on a pro model overall i am going to get the three model of lyric ,two of sankyo, three of Muramatsuand three model of resona .My teacher plays powell i love them but hate there price lol i will have to wait for that

thank you so much Beca

I recently found about the tech i use because of my flute breaking so much i had a perfromance one night and my footjoint fell completely of so he fixed it were it wold stay and if something now breaks i will bring to him plus it free because I am music student ...I had two or three geminhardt's when i was in high school because at the time it i didnt know of many more brand untill i went to check a college and was talking to so college band members and found about different brand i asked my mom for a new flute and she told me wait till college i took a year of went to school with a flute but I am marching band so i played piccolo and need a flute till concert season but i started taking lessons so i got my current flute a open hole armstrong... I am switching major in the end of the semester after my audtion so my new lessons teacher want me to get a new flute plus I need one lol oh yeah everyone played geminhardt in my flute section in high school

Definitely try Pearl flutes.

I have a Pearl Dolce CODA. I use a Yamaha EC headjoint on it though instead of the Forza it came with because my sound is MUCH more focused and clear with that.

Definitely try as many flutes as you can. I tried quite a few including some of the $5,000 Miyazawas and my sound (with trying all their headjoints too) just didn't compare. My flute cost around $2,600 total with a GREAT sound.

And as mentioned, don't just go for all solid silver as a silver plated Miyazawa will sound better than a silver Gemiendhardt any day

resona is like, how powell is to sonare, to burkart.

burkart flutes are AMAZING!
i say get an intermediate yamaha flute and then get a burkart headjoint.

I had an Armstrong 103B. It was not bad for a student flute. But mine was older. It was a 1980's model. I also had a 1981 Armstrong 80B and it was awsome.

I think that it is possible that the quality of the Armstrong flutes has deminshed over time. I have not had a chance to do any serious playing on the newer flutes.

I have an old Armstrong 90 that I love. I think that it was made in the late 1960's It has a beautiful tone.

I have had this flute for less then a year when i first got it was really nice and i loved the sound but then it started acting like it is now. Idk why it giving me so much trouble but it would just be easier to buy a new flute then to fight with this one in repair since i am student i can get the basic stuff done to my flute but right it will cost me a 1000 to do a over haul on it so it just not worth it right now i will get it fixed but i will wait till the summer because i get be without a flute for a couple days because of lessons and all the different band that i am in currently. Today was stressfull because it just wouldnt act right and i have one week to have a piece prepared and worked up for my teacher. I went back in the practice room and just played untill i could take no more

You are going to be a music major. You should have a good flute. Armstrong makes great student flutes, but you should get yourself a good professional flute. A flute that can really make you shine. A flute that can help you progress.

I am not suggesting that you keep your 103. Mine was nice but it is nothing compared to my Muramatsu.
