Does anyone know where I can get the scores for free, or could anyone scan them and send them to me? I need it for next week and I don't have time to order them online....

Thank you!

Does it occur to you that when publishers cease to be paid for their work they will cease to publish? Then no music will be available. If you don't have time to order "on-line", that is, to have it shipped, see if your local music store has it in stock. (For that matter, always consult your local music store first.)

Today is your lucky day. The piece is actually in the public domain in the US, Canada and many other countries. I've posted it here:

Free Flute Sheet Music: Danse de la Chevre

Does this fit your needs?

What a coincidence! I'm looking for Dance of the Blessed Spirits and its up there on your site!
However I'm looking for an arrangement for flute + concert band, does anyone know if such a thing exists? I am of course willing to pay for it (but free would be better)

Are you sure? Just because someone has posted something in Cyberspace doesn't mean they've done it legally.

Googling a bit, I find that the piece was created in 1921, and that in the U.S. protection for works in their second copyright term in 1976, as this would have been had it been copyrighted in the U.S. in 1921, were automatically extended to a total of 95 years, which suggests that this piece is not likely to go into public domain here until 2016.

"was automatically extended", I mean.

As regards the US, you may be right. The problem is when the work was first published, for all works published before 1923 are in the public domain in the US.
Anyway, since the composer died in 1955, the piece is certainly in the public domain in Canada, South Africa, Australia, Japan, China and many other countries.

My sincere thanks to the person who posted the link to the scores.

And yes, I am aware that publishers work very hard to earn what they do. I usually buy the originals, but I needed the scores very urgently and I couldn't afford to wait much.

Thank you all

<Added>

I can't have it shipped overnight because I don't reside in the U.S. and it takes over a week to get it shipped, and I had already looked at my local music store. Unfortunately, their stock never has what I need.

The piece is NOT in the public domain. It remains under copyright. Please check IMSLP for more information on the public domain.

Like I said, it is in the public domain in selected countries. It probably isn't in the US, since first publication date seems to be 1932.
