You are welcome to inject and promote some humour at the Forum.

Before I continue, I would like to clarify that the craftwork on these crowns is something I respect, although I would not like to install one on my flute. But I am sure they are made with love and care and each carry a message from the artist, as every art work does.

So I hope from the beginning that the thread keeps its air of initial joviality.

You are right in that we tend to take things too seriously. Or at least I do, if I make no special effort to break the tendency. The last days I have been somewhat ill, I attributed it to gripe, but it does not seem to be one. I think now I have had a sort of stress collapse.

It could have been avoided easily if I had taken everything more lightly and with a bit of humour.

Even good things, as practising our instruments can become bad, if exaggerated.

Smiling or -more difficult- laughing at things can be the right cure.

lol! No offense at all taken! The crown was completely meant as a gag. I would never expect anyone in their right mind to want to put one on their flute!

<Added>

PS. Please, DO NOT think this is my normal work or craftsmanship on my crowns. Again, it was meant as a gag gift and I just through it together in a couple of minutes. I do not sell these and it is not mean as any type of promotion of any kind. It was only made for Suzie. I just wanted to clarify that after ready Jose's response.

Does the glitter add more "sparkle" to your tone?

Does the gold braid signify rank like in the military? Is it reserved for principal flutists, while second flutists get silver braid?

How about adding a tassle to the crown? Something like those found on some Chinese Dizi flutes. That way when the player really gets moving while playing, s/he can coordinate his/her movement to make the tassle twirl around to emphasize the REALLY hard phrases. Of course the real virtuosos could demonstrate their agility by flipping the tassle to turn pages of the score.

ACTUALLY my dogs USED to howl at my flute playing (or at least the older one used to) and now, thanks to this sparkly crown it seems to have put them into a trance with both the sparkling glitter (I think they both have A.D.D.) AND the now wonderful tone! Also, with the block removed from the case, the flute doubles as a MARACA! WONDERFUL!

Hmmm, one of my dogs always gets up and leaves the room. She is probably the only one that has any aural sense. The other guy can probably sleep through the apocalypse.
The Lunn Crowns and Glories can also entrance a dog (or feline) with glittery artistic renderings. Not to mention, that these sorts of additions from either Kate or Mr. Lunn can turn any wrong notes or bad tones into beautiful artistic renderings from the cherubs of St. Valentine so that even St. Cecelia would envy the very cork stopper on your head joint.
