Maybe this will work out well. For $275 it might make for an intersting sound for my Celtic music if I can play it in tune.

That's not a leap of faith ... that's a leap into the darkness!

Come'on ...shine a light - was it any good lol.

Well my wooden headjoint from China showed up today.I haven't spent much time with it but I don't have anything bad to say about it. Fast shipping, it came in a nice case and the wood is very nice. It plays nicely through the 1st two octaves, although I have to pay attention to the 2nd C and G as they want to go sharp. It starts breaking down at E3, but that doesn't surprise me as it took me several months before I could stay in tune from E3-G3 on my alto and even now if I blow a little forte those notes go sharp.

I'm not sure what I expected from it. I don't sound better with it than my silver plated head and it will take me awhile to get the full range in tune that I have with my other head (up to G3). But just playing some reels and airs it sounded nice and probably more traditional than my metal head, which is what I wanted. Celtic music is always in the 1st two octaves so the range on this is fine for what I bought it for.

I guess the best part is it stopped me from handing out $3000 for an Eppler headjoint or $2000 for a David Chu headjoint. And if I do try out pricer wood headjoints I'll have something to compare it to,

I got an email from Guo today saying they are coming out with alto flutes next year. I'll save my money for one of those.
