I am just starting out on the flute and i'm having trouble with some of the high notes from d5 upwards can anyone shed any light on why? it's not all of the notes only some. cheers

High notes are always scary but there are a lot of things that could be causing it. I recommend getting a private teacher if you don't already have one. My teacher taught me an exercise to help with my embouchure. It's called the "Freeze tag" exercise. Pick a note, any note you want. Now without using you tongue or your fingers, jump up an octave. Go up each note. I know it sounds pointless, but it really helps
