In my band you can challenge a first chair and if you do better then them you switch places. However, I`m really afraid that I`ll make a total fool of myself!None of the other second chairs will do it with me either! What should I do!?

hmmm i think you should ask the person to play his thing first like at lunch time so nobody you wanted to challenge and he`ll play his best piece and you ask questions about his grade as if your admiring him and then, if you believe you are about the same or beating him... vs him and you might win.

I think you should do it. If you don`t you will always wonder if you could have made it. If you think you can move up, don`t miss your chance- take the initiative! You sound like you really want to do this, so the next opportunity you have, I think you should try it.

i did it, and i moved up. only b/c technically i should of been ahead of the person, and if you REALLY REALLY think you deserve that chair, you will get it as long as you PRACTICE HARD.

i just lost my challenge, i should have won, but i was really nervous, i was like shaking and i strted laughing in the middle, but the point is, losing this challenge makes me practice harder and i know for sure im goona win my challenge nxt week. so look at it thins way, ull be more motivated if ya lose, cause ull want to win, and if u win ull be more motavated cause u know that uve alreday accomplished a lot. also ur the one who is challenging right, so u have nothign to lose, the person who u r challenging has the risk of moving down a chair, but u have no risk at all.oh and u wont make a fool of urself, cause just having the courage andbeing the only second chair to challenge the first chair is enough, so what if u mess up, we all make mistakes, just gotts stand back up and keep practicing till u do beat a first chair.

We`ll theres always next chair test. Im first chair for band and everyone was afraid to challenge me ,lol hehe Next time in your Chair test try stressing on Dynamics and Accents (staccoto,vibrato etc) because in my band nobody does that and i do so i beat them, (plus im a good player,lol)
