I just bought a Selmer FL320b yesterday to replace my first one (a Yamaha, 180 series, I think they stopped making them two decades ago), now I thought the flute was a professional model (it`s the best one Selmer has), and it says so on the Selmer site. The thing is, some online instrument stores call it an `intermediate` flute and one even calls it a `beginners flute`... I tried it, and it felt pretty professional to me (not that I`m a professional player). It has gold plated keys, engraved and gold plated lip plate, white gold springs, the list goes on... It can`t be an intermediate or beginner`s, can it?

As a side question: Are all these fancy stuff really necessary? I personally think the engraving thing is too much, I`d really like it better if my flute was flower-free.

By the way, I got it for $1140... Not a bad deal. The full price is about $1655.

Love,
