I believe it`s D, anything higher is probably a ear-ripper, or it`s too high that humans can`t gear !

I`m like you, and can only play up to Bb, and sometimes on a good day, I can play C but I need a bit more practice!

hey dustin, (enjoy the chaminade btw) i`m sure there really isn`t a desire to hit anything higher than a C (c4) on a piccolo as hearing loss is almost guarenteeed

I also have a question...

I know that the piccolo plays 1 8va higher than the flute, so does that mean when I`m like doing a solo for flute on my piccolo, I play say if the music was written like C3, would I play C4?

If the music was written especially for piccolo, would I play C4 if it was written as C4 on the piccolO?

Sorry, I must`ve confused a bunch, but it will very much help for an answer!

piccolo music is just staight playing, no changing octaves
if you`re playing flute music on a picc, then take the music down an octave. C4 on flute = C3 on Picc ...

(tell me if i`m wrong but i`m about to swear it on a stack of bibles!)

You`re right... c4 on flute = c3 on piccolo. Woo! Hooray for male piccolo players!! lol Theoretically, D4 is the highest a piccolo should play... But like in Varese`s solo Density 21.5 for flute, you can play higher. In that piece you have to play a D3 on Flute, on piccolo I`ve gotten up to G4... It`s uber-hard and you have to find alternate fingerings... good luck

How the frig did you hit a g4 on the piccolo??? Can you even play that on the flute??? omg I have to play high high bflat in band this year in practically all the songs... that is deth, especially since i`ve only been playing for 2 months... alot to ask eh? Do you guys have problems hitting f when its really humid? I only have problems with f nothing else! it`s sooo annoying cuz you`ll hear me play all the notes higher and below it... any advice for a young piccolo?

Hi I also play piccolo and flute and the highest note on flute is D. Thats the highest note you will ever have to use, but I can play the Eb scale 3 octaves so that would make the note Eb4 I tink so, but it depends on how mush power you blow in to your flute. Most band teachers think that its amazing that I can hit does notes on flute and piccolo , but to its normal to me.

"Hi I also play piccolo and flute and the highest note on flute is D"

That is untrue. Please scroll down and read "What is the highest note on the flute" thread. It was a very long post, so I am sure others here don`t want to rehash is again.

"I can play the Eb scale 3 octaves so that would make the note Eb4 I tink so, but it depends on how mush power you blow in to your flute."

True, it takes more air to get to that Eb, but those higher notes also require different fingering. Blowing really hard is not necessarily the way to do it either. It takes a different and very well focused embouchure to do.

"P.S that thing with the cats and dogs can only hear the veary veary high notes is not ture."

I believe that Patrick was just joking around. There are some notes that I know I would rather not hear, or have my dog hear. Lol! But fortunately I have never seen them written in any piece of music.

Hey everyone. Comment to Riki, it IS nice to know that there are other guy piccolo players. I play piccolo in my High School band which goes into competitions for Parade. We don`t do field show for some reason. We do VERY well in everything we do. We are an Award Winning Band. ALWAYS first place. Anyways...I can get up to a C sometimes, but on other days, it goes down to a B Natural. I can get a B flat EAsily.
