I agree with all of the other responses but it could be that something is really wrong. it might have a leak or a missing pad. take it to the shop for a good once over

i had this problem last year, my second year. Dont tighten, butter dont tighten on low notes and do on high notes. Only get a reed that doesnt buzz when your playing an E or an F( the low ones on the first and second bottom lines). Im playing for my third year so try getting songs that are mainly high and the lets you also go to a low note but not all the time. Thats alli can tell you.

One thing I would also like to say regarding reeds...

My elementary band director (and middle school one that I have right now) told all of the clarineteists he taught that "A higher reed means better quality", now I'm not sure if this is true, but I do know now is that a higher number reeds is just thicker, not alwaqys better! So, although your embochure may be the problem, it could be the number reed your using.

Well, don't trust my advice too much... I still take private lessons too, and I'm not an expert.

The leading problem with sqeakign in the clarinet is open holes (not fully covered) mabye you have a pad that is worn?

Sometimes my clarinet squeaks when I trill high notes... I don't know why... just try another reed, loosen your ligature, add or subtract pressure on the reed.

I should be able to help. Try to keep your emb. firm in the upper register especially. Squeeze the mouthpiece and add more air at the same time. Don't overdo the air, just keep it steady. Best wishes.

Oh, try to work up to AT LEAST a 3.5 reed. I forgot to say that. : )

ok i've had this problem alot..
once it was because i needed a new reed
another the screws for the register key on my bass clarinet were messed up
and the other time it was because my bass clarinet hands were to lazy to cover up the holes..
but i also agree that it could be the pressure problem.. just mess around with how much pressure you give for each note.. you might have changed something unconsiencously (wow butchered that?)
