Noblets are apparently an intermediate level clarinet made by leblanc(yay google). I don't know much about them, but it's probably a reputable brand. I don't specifically know of anyone who plays on one, though.

hi there. i bought a noblet clarinet about 6 months ago. i love it, they are great clarinets that have warm sounds very nice finds if you can get them into a good working order.

I have a Noblet and a couple Buffets. The Noblet is a great horn, much better made than most other student horns. I recommend an older Noblet over a Buffet E-11.

Noblet clarinets (model 40 and 45) are ver y nice indtermediate instruments. A very warm full and spread tone. I've owned a couple of various vintages and they are always great to play with excellent keywork.

they aren't very rare. You could buy a new one today as they are still in production. They are also always on eBay.

They are Leblancs Intermediate line, just they aren't as popular as the mass marketed Selmer USA clarinets (though Selmer USA markets the Leblans, Noblets and Normandys too)

i've owned a Noblet since my 2nd year of playing (and overseas we started two years later than everyone in the US), so i've had mine for about 5 years now and its still in great condition. i bought it used so i actually have no clue how old it is.

I recently sold my 1967 Noblet 45. It was a very nice instrument, much nicer than the newer ones. It had some Leblanc level professional attributes such as pinned spatula keys; a nice reddish bell; and it sounded very spread and yet sweet. I also have a 1971 (or 91) Noblet 45. But the older ones are a tad nicer.

I used to have a wooden Noblet clarinet before I bought an R13. It had a really lovely warm centred tone. However, the intonation was very poor and some of the keywork was not positioned well for fast technical work. It would be a good instrument for an intermediate player not looking to be graded on performance but wants that classically focused sound.

One sad thing is, I have never heard of a noblet clarinet.

The noblets are like any other clarinet - if not setup properly their intonation can be squirrely.

Ergonomic-wise any clarinet can or may not fit ppls hands. FWIW, my hands don't fit Eaton clarinets but I wouldn't say that they are not good at fast passages - I just can't play them.

Pro level clarinets are normally "clearer" on altissimo notes and improved intonation, etc. But intermediates are really good instruments generally speaking.

I think that Noblet is a great instrument for beginners, but I have only tried very old "Noblet artist" clarinets, so what do I know?
I recommend Buffet.

Personally, they are nice, but I prefer Buffet RC, Leblanc LL and Selmer CT - it's all a matter of preference.

But pro instruments may be out of reach of many newbies in which case these Noblets are very nice. The old Normandy 4 wood clarinets are very nice beginner instruments too for the money.

I've started playing with Noblet clarinets, don´t know which model. I´ve played with them for about 15 years, before a switched to a Buffet E-11. They are quite nice instruments, somewhat heavier than my Buffet, which isn´t surprisingly. Didn´t notice a significant difference between my current clarinet and the Noblet I used to play with. About 8 years ago, my band started purchasing some Buffet, models E-11 and E-13, to replace the Noblet ones, nevertheless they still play a very important role in my band as they are used in the school band.
