I bought a new clarinet off ebay. It was 90% off of the retail of abt. $650. I am not able to afford a new clarinet, or a used one for that matter. My previous one has a pad missing (Mid C# key, if anyone wants to know. Little key at bottom of top segment, right below C? yeah that one lol) I have been told by multiple people that it cannot be repaired, because they cant find pads for the brand (which is Liang) But thats not what Im here for xD

The new clarinet's brand is Victory. (by titan it says) Is this a better brand? Or at least more well known? (enough to get replacement parts as need be anyway) It cost me $70 for the clarinet and shipping. My old one was excellent, and lasted me nearly 7 years. Got me to 1st chair all through my band days. Hopefully this one can do the same for me!

Here is a link to the E-bay page for the item. Hopefully I am getting my $70 worth!

Thanks a lot!

Victory is a pretty good brand. My friend plays it. It has a different tone that the plastic or brands other instuments. Like Yamaha is a certain tone and Victory has a cheery tone.

The brand is well know and I know some Symphony conductors say it is a good brand but stick with the ones you know like Armstrong and Yamaha. I am not dissing the brand but I think that you deserve a better brand of clarinet.

I hope this clarinet will last.

Humm missing a pad huh...I would take it to a repair shop and ask for help. You can replace pad anytime. It may be not cheap but it is for the better.

Thanks!

I'm going to take it to the music shop in town next week. I love that clarinet, it plays so well! Made of wood too lol If I cant get it fixed, ill start saving my money for a better brand. I've never played a plastic clarinet, So I can't say bad or good things. I guess I will find out soon!

I remeber when I was shopping for my clarinet, I called the local music shop. They told me how important it was to buy a "name brand" clarinet. If it is not a well known clarinet brand, they cannot find the parts to repair it. Victory... I have seen them on eBay before (totally eBay addict ), but I have never bought a thing from them. I'd like to know what you think of your new clainet!

P.S. You know how you said your clarinet got you first chair... well, the clarinet doesn't make the music for you!

Got it today! So far it sounds good, though I am going to get stronger reeds. It came with a weak one, and it buzzes way to loud, and I cant hit the upper B and C like I could with my 3. (either that or I am jut way out of practice!) But other than that its good!

PS. We worked as a team then lol I played, it didnt break (until the pad fell out x.x)

Yeah... I think it plays great. I got my new reed yesterday. Tis a 3 now, and I can hit all my high notes again with ease.

My band director told me I wasted my money though, that i would never be able to find parts for it, and that I could never get a good tone like I would from a Yamaha or some other name brand. That kind of made me mad. He said this after he told me he couldn't get the upper register notes to work. Meh... Ill show him one of these days. For now, ill practice a difficult song.
