Well I finally done it!!..ok I'm a raw beginner on the clarinet , but a musician of long standing on string instruments. After a good six month study of the lower register and tentative efforts to cross the break today it came with more ease than ever. Good tone and acurate fingering, , feels good to get up high, I shall incorporate the break exercising every day from now on.....just wanted to share my little leap forward!

Good!
How long have you been playing clarinet?
It took me ages to play the register key without squeaking...

Great!
I've recently started the work reaching the higher notes. This far I'm ok up to two-line a. Not without effort but I am on my way up.
Good luck!

Hey Clarinetmike. I haven't reached the dizzy heights of the higher register yet but I have seen how tricky it is to play B4 on demand. Its fingering doesn't seem to follow any logical pattern compared to the notes below. One has to suddenly call up all those fingers whereas the A below is only one finger. I find that difficult to get used to. After what you said I'm wondering how tricky the upper register's going to be. Any idea why the fingering pattern changes so suddenly at this B?
