a lyre is someting some band use for marching band or other outdoor performances. it is a little stand that you attach to your instrument, you either clip music to or the music is clipped onto it. on the clarinet, it attaches near the bridge. i personally hate them, it takes away from the look of the performance, and plus if you are looking down your tone isn`t as good. so its musch better to memorize your music for marching band. yarr

Thank you, I just thought it looked somewhat strange, how would the sheets be able to stand? Will they not fold?

usually the music is shrunk down to a smaller page, then either lamenated or slipped into a plastic page holder, then that is what is clipped to the lyre.

Can you really read the music then, if the sun for exampel shines, won`t it be very shiny? And if it shrunk you could perhaps just learn the hm thing without bothering with the lyre.
