The most challenging piece arranged for orchestra that I have played so far is definatly Harry Potter. The Band arrangement is frightningly easy but the orchestral one is frightningly challenging. Crazy crazy runs and such that are impossible. Try that out for a technical lark.

I think the most technically difficult piece I played in band was Dance Movements by Philip Sparke. I played that in all state band in 1998. Challenging as a whole would definitely be Russian Christmas Music by Alfred Reed. Difficult Solos would be:

1. Muczynski Time Pieces
2. Nielsen Concerto for Clarinet
3. Ibert Concerto for Flute
