Oboes are awesome, which is why everyone hates us. Flutes mostly. Actually, now the trumpets and low brass also hate us in my band.. and so do the clarinets.

They're jealous because we play an incredibly hard instrument, and play it better then they play their's!

haha!! i think that's funny. there's one kid in my band who plays trumpet 2 or 3 and he thinks he's sooooooooooo good!! It's hilarious. My conductor always yells at him and threatens to tell his mother(works at high school now) about his bad behavior. Everyone thinks I'm the best player in our band... though I'm the only oboe and it gets really annoying. When we test from our book some clarinets always want me to play with them.. I feel like a circus animal cause i'm always fought over to be played with.

Lol, I don't really know what it's like but I suppose it could be good having everyone want to play with you for encouragement but bad if you're tired and just want to get on with it. It's better everyone loves you rather than everyone hating you.

wow, and i thought i was the only weird oboist out there. being the best in my band and all coz the other 4 at my school are boring.. not crazy like all the cool oboists!!! I LOVE OBOE!! IT ROCKS MY SOCKS!!! i need to practise more coz i havent in ages and im gonna start lessons soon... but anyways, OBOES RULE!!

Hey I just feeling like posting... I got distinction in grade 4 (peeps in the uk will understand). Hoot hoot

I play grade 7 Oboe and love it. It's soo fun to play. I'm also in an orchestra with it.

Even tough i play bassoone now, i think oboe is really kewl. I played it for a little while and i thought it was fun, but my band teacher needs her oboe back soon and bassoon consumes most of my time, but OBOE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO OBOES!
