i know that some music stores sell hand made reeds.. the one that i live close too sells them.. but i didn't like them as much as i liked my private tutors reeds

my instructor knows how to make his own reeds, but says he'd much rather buy reeds, touch them up some and then spend more time playing than making reeds.

I use Chartier longscrape reeds, those are the best ones I've found so far. They usually need a little touching up, but not much.

Store bought reeds almost made me drop out of our high school small group contest because none of them would work for me!!!! They are so awful! I am so glad though because I found some great hand-made reeds from a place called Oboeworks! They are Great! I will never use store bought reeds again!

They weren't very hard core. Now I have to buy store bought reeds that come in rainbow colors. I shave them down to get different tone qualities.
