All of my reeds are dying, so I bought some new ones (i can't make my own yet) and they are all way too open. Is there any way I can fix them? I have a concert soon and I need a good reed.

get it wet, then push it together until the opening is how you want it then let it dry that way. Im not sure if it will work, but its the only thing I can think of.

another thing you could try....ask your oboe teacher if they can adjust the reed for you. A fw scrapes here and there can work wonders. I'd do it for you myself, but you're probably in the US, and I'm in the UK!
