If you are a beginner and need an oboe for cheap contact me. I have an older lesher oboe. It has a basic conservatory with a range to low B. The only problem with it is a scratch on the bell. It has very little plating wear. I got it from the local trift store for three-hundred dollars. I tested it a it played better than the schools selmer. Its second cotave key was bent. I took it emedietly to get the key fixed and corks replaced. You can also give me a call at 1(252)638-5806. I don`t have pictures yet but if you would like some I can get some. I will take $250.00 obo. I have played it for about three months. The only reson I am selling is because I have just gotten a Patricola student oboe. It has a modified conservatory system, third octave key, semi-automatic octave system, range to low Bb, left hand F, grenadilla wood body, silver plated keys, and student case for $1,695.00 from www.music123.com, www.uubw.com, and www.muncywinds.com (located in Boone, NC)
Paticola is a second generation family owned company from Italy. For more information on their oboes and clarinets please contact me for more information a minuvera@yahoo.com

Buying oboe over the internet is nonsense.

You have to test it live before. I bought mine in Howarth and I were two hours to choose one from the six I could choose from (the S20 version). So, even if you buy an oboe over the internet from a respectet oboe making company (Lorée, Howart etc.) then you are not sure if you get the oboe you want.

Okay, there are a lot of things ya`ll need to know in buying an oboe. Don`t go to ebay you dont know what freak is selling it to you. Also check around for the nice ones like loree or fox. For those of you who think old oboes are bad... no older oboes play better. Also you complain about cracks, after your oboe cracks the tone is better. You would want wood bc it makes your tone better. Go to www.wwbw.com you can find some really nice cheep oboes there! Make sure you know what your doing before you by one.

I recently purchased an Artley 18Q Oboe off ebay. Sure, its not the best oboe on the planet, but for a brand new oboist form clarients....its great to jut learn on. If your a student just trying out the oboe, there is no harm in buying a cheap, plastic oboe off ebay.

im in 8th grade and started the oboe a year ago. i had an awesome, band director, played in a symphony, all the other junior highs wanted him. i had to move and ended up in a school with a horrible director with his own rock band and an earing! he doesnt know how to direct and is given no respect. i do not own my own oboe and will be quitting band. i no longer learn anything, being that he doesnt teach. i am looking for an oboe to a good home, ive been told im pretty good. but the fact is i just moved and am in a family of 4, so money is REALLY tight. post any oboes for me, i dont trust putting my email on here. under $200 US is ideal.

i played on a selmer signet oboe for about 2 or 3 years that i got on ebay. it was almost 30 years old, but for a wood selmer oboe it wasnt bad. if your experienced, you want to make sure that your buying from a business that will let you try the oboe.

Okay people, if you`re going to buy an oboe, get a good one. If you`re serious about playing the oboe, don`t try to get one off ebay or try to find a cheap one. And don`t buy store bought reeds if you can. Have an experienced oboe player make them for you. Oh, and plastic oboes are so NOT good. Wood oboes have a better sound by a long shot. Some people say that there is no difference, and that some wood oboes are bad, but that`s just because they can`t play the oboe correctly yet.

I`m looking at a Loree on ebay but the seller says they don`t know a thing about oboes. What should I do?
Also, it`s not the type of wood or material that the oboe`s made out of, but the quality of work that`s put into it. There are good wooden and plastic oboes just as there are crappy ones.

Also, if your poor and your parents won`t or can`t buy you an instrument then cheap is the only way you can go. I was told to buy an oboe that is as much as I can afford. I`m thinking of getting a summer job and waiting till after summer break.

I have a howarth oboe in extremely bad shape but it isnt mine - i am thinkin i could but it off the band i play it with and get it repaired or could buy a new one to begin with, i would be very interested in an oboe anyone doesnt want n e more. If anyone could give me advice on good makes and band makes of oboes for a grade 7 player that would be apreciated a lot!
I need an inexpensive oboe (i am 15) and i would like it to be made of wood, doesnt necessarily have to be in perfect condition though it would be nice :-) be a covered hole thumbplate system oboe please.
PLEASE PLEASE email me if you have an oboe which fits into that description, or any advice.
