Flying with oboe...

I`m going on an international tour this summer with a chamber group. I`m wondering how to navigate the world of airport security with instruments and gear in tow. Do I check my oboe & EH or keep it as a carry-on? What about all the miscellaneous gear, i.e. instument stands, etc.? I`m guessing I probably shouldn`t even attempt to bring my reed knife/tools. Do I have to declare everything at customs? Should I take out extra insurance or is my homeowner`s policy enough? Oy, do I have the questions

Any help from seasoned international travelers is much welcome and very appreciated!

Hi!
What you have to do is
First- do not even try to take your knives and tools to the plane!!!!
Put it in your cases and let it go to the plane!!Do not even mention to security that you have any knives and strange looking tools in you suite-case!
Take your instruments to the plane with you!Declare them (if needed)
Insurance for travelling is good, chek it with the company that works with the local symphony or other band
Good luck
