has anybody heard of this technique on the bassoon where u blow through the side of the reed to make your high notes bettter ? is this even work?or is it just made up

Ive been playing the bassoon for 13 years and I have never heard anyone say a better method then just blowing straight on.If it was a worthwhile method then more people would be talking about it
