Hey does anyone have any suggestions on which bassoon book is better? i need one to practice over the summer and can`t find a good one iv`e been playing for 2 years.

I don`t use it, but I have heard good things about the Weissenhower Method.

lol i may not have spelt it right- might he weissenborn or something like that

i use wiessenborn(sp?) its really good its also teaches you tenor clef too

pariscales is what my college professor and my private etacher had me use

Weissenborn has everything from scales to melodies to Maria Von Weber. It`s perfect for getting started and you`ll learn plenty from it. You might also try Milde`s 25 studies in Scales and Chords (kovar) To help get comfortable with every fingering, but don`t begin there lol.

I would definitely agree with Kevin and Laura - the Weissenborn is a very good set of studies - go from the first book though as their fiendish from book 2 onwards. The Milde is very good as well.

yea deffinatly weissenborn the enlarged edition its a wonderful book it will get you from playing your first not to playing andante and hungarian rondo...(its the last peice)

the milde studies in scales and chords is great if you are an advanced player....just gonna do the one now with 6 sharps LOL

i know it sounds dumb, but use the accent on achievement books, their good until book 3, and although they don`t teach you tenor clef, I tought myself to play the bassoon using this book. P.S. - Level of success speaks for itself: Bought the book and borrowed the bassoon in mid june, was playing in a highschool concert early August. (We played Colonel Bogey March [pretty hard for bassoon], firebird suite[with a solo], and Les Miserables [pretty hard music])
