Just for the fun of it...I've thought about putting parts from different model bassoons together to make one complete bassoon...(they sell seperate tenon and boot joints..etc on ebay)Would this mess up the sound of the bassoon? Would it result in an instrument with any value?

At first, although more than likely easy to fix, the joints may not fit together. Also, some of the mechanics may not mesh from piece to piece (Whisper Lock, Low Bb, etc.). Otherwise, it would be interesting to find out what it sounds like.

Even if the bits did fit together the bores of the joints could be quite different which is almost certain to cause major intonation problems.
The value of the final result will be less than the cost of the individual parts.
