I am sick and tired of going on a topic where someone asks a simple question about range, or even mentions range and some butthead has to post their two cents about how "immature" and "range is not important" crap. There is no reason for it! Look, range is cool, and no matter how much any of you poopheads want to condemn the concept of screamin, its never gonna stop someone from listening to a bill chase tune and want to be like bill! So hell you can take your Mahler Symphony shove it you know where! When I heard Mis Abuelos by Arturo Sandoval I knew I wanted to play just like him! Especially in the upper register! And Im Proud of it! Everything from the tone to sloppy notes and style!!!!!!!! Post what lead player you wanna be like, from Maynard to Bergeron! And please, keep YOUR immature comments about how range is unimportant to yourself!

i`m going for a cross between wayne bergeron, doc severinsen, and maynard ferguson. I have been trying to get maynard`s style and volume with wayne bergerons sound and high notes and doc severinsen`s technicallity. It makes a great combination. and i agree about the high notes.

oo i luv it when trumpets play really high. I`m not a trumpet player but lots of my friends are. One of my friends got Wayne Bergeron`ssignature on his mute. It`s so cool. Did ya know that he plays in lots of famous movies? Just soooo cool...

i`ve kind of got it going... it still needs some work. mainly on the technicallity part. i`m more of a untechnical guy when it comes to classical but i can do all the jazz stuff. hopefully i`ll have it all down by college time.

There is reason for range, it is used by lead players in jazz and we trumpet players play around with it because it is fun to do so. You dont necesarily need to have it to be good at trumpet but its fun and usefull for lead trumpet playing.

yeah i`m in high school. I`m a sophomore but i play with a lot of professional bands and i`ve gotten a lot of experience. I kind of study music a lot and i play a lot. usually about 4 to five hours a day unless i have a gigue in which case i play up to 9 hours. i like to play music that`s been written by gordon goodwin. like jazz police and hunting wabbits. and i play a lot of maynard`s music. i`m in high school but (not meaning to sound cocky) i know much more about trumpet playing and music than most high school students.

Its supposed to be one word, laziness melted the words together. But yeah I am a sophomore in college, I am in the two jazz bands and top concert band. I have three years of drum corps expierience and I am going to be in the DCI Honor Corps this December at Disney World. I am going to have a lesson while im there with Bill Carmichael, hes a lead player and teacher out there. He has an embouchure method, I believe its called "Screamin Chops" method. I love Sandovals sound all around, but I wouldnt mind adding a bit of Chase and Bergeron into the mix too. Oh yeah and Cacia too...

Hey I had an idea! How about we all make recordings of ourselves playing some lead stuff? Like favor passage up the octave or crazy cadenza or something? We can upload the file through yousendit.com and post the link here. That way we all would be able to download it before the link goes dead seven days later. What do you all think? I have a jazz concert next week, when they offer the cd ill rip it and send you guys a clip. Anywho this is just an idea, I am really high right now off of snickers and pepsi, lolwhat do you all think? Actually now I think im getting a little immature....LOL......

Range is boring unless you play PEDDLE TONES
(really low notes)
