I like my new Yamaha Xeno. I was told that they are a better trumpet than Bachs, and soon everyone will be pllaying a Xeno instead of a Strad.

yamaha xeno's are in no way better than bach strad's i can accept that they are in the same league but they cant reach the softness of tone that the bach can they only have that bright trumpety tone which is crap for softer stuff

Man, you must have heard a pretty crappy player because when I play my Xeno, it has a very dark sound. I have heard PLENTY of Strads, and they dont have near the tone quality of a Xeno. Have you even played a Xeno before?

Bach Strad is the standard "good" horn, and I certainly don't think anything is wrong with them, (I own one). But I think, in general, the older Strads are better made than the newer ones. I have a KING student edition also, and although it's a student horn and extremely lightweight, it is a good horn. I play it occasionally and I think it is comparably as good as my Strad.

The idea that Strads are better than Xenos is just foolish. You must have had the idea that the Xeno wasnt going to be as good as the strad therfore, you played it crappily without knowing it.

Well i have a Jupiter trumpet but I would rather spend money on other things than another trumpet that would make basically the same sound. Waste of money.

Not Neccasarily. If you enjoy playing the trumpet, then you should buy a good horn like a Xeno or Strad. If your only slightly interested, then you should probably buy a Jupiter or Blessing. Your Jupiter may sound O.K, but it is not going to sound like a Xeno or Strad unless you got REALLY lucky. (or your a proffesional :0 )

im not a particular fan of jupiter...ive been using a Yamaha 2335 M, it is okay, and ive been looking into getting a pro. trumpet. i have to say, i am going to purchase a Schilke B5LB or B6LB. Im trying to decide between the two, but they are both great horns. after playing many different strad's, i have come to the colclusion that they all play different, and i did not get as good of a sound out of the bach as i did from the Schilke. after playing the pro. horns and after testing my range and tone colour, i decided i must get my Schilke!

shilkes top note tone cant be questioned...in fact just today i played saeta from sketches of spain by miles davis and my section leader was blowing this fanfare flawlessly with awesome tone on his shilke X3...it was beast!!
