Hey all, im new here.
anyways, i just acquired a vintage HN White gladiator trumpet, and would like to know whats the best way to care for it, the lacquer is completely gone, but there are absolutely no dings or dents on it, and it sounds ....decent. how would i be able to get better sound out of it, cleaning the inside i suppose, how would i do that?

You could give it a bath. Just take out all slides and valves and clean seperately. Then fill up a tub with lukewarm water and let the horn sit for a good 15 minutes. Take it out, dry it, and make sure all the pieces are cleaned and dried. Oil and grease everything up and you should see some improvement. Hope this helps.

P.S. Try getting a basic Trumpet Maintenance Kit if you don't already have one.

after youv bathed it and after its propaly dried put it upright and pour a tumbler of water dound the mouthpiece and move the valves this water will pull out all the minerals the trumpet will have picked up from the bath then repeat the procedure with lots of valve oil this will but a lubricated wall on the inside of the trumpet so any pieces of food that you blow down won't stick and obstruct the airflow-sorry im a bit of a nutter when it comes to this sort of stuff but it seems to work.
