I have a trumpet that has been used in school by me and my brother for about 10 years total. It has a lot of smaller dents and the lacquer is wearing off badly around the valves and wherever your hands touch while playing it. I have been thinking about getting it relacquered and the dents taken out but i dont have a whole lot of money. Can someone suggest what i could do. thanks

Take it to your local music store to find info about where to fix it up. By touching raw metal, you could develop allergic reactions. Bad ones. Trust me. I had them before and they were no fun...

At maximum have it cleaned up inside and oiled. If I were to get a trumpet like in the condition you specified, I would return it and would get one on my own. Look up "trumpets" on E-Bay. Some trumpets there are priced ridiculously low.

Hope this helps!

I think this where I can ask this question. I noticed that my valves do not seem to respond as quickly after I press them down and come back up or change to a new note. The valves are well oiled. Could the springs within the valve be worn as the trumpet is quite old?
Is there an on line site to check for trumpet parts?
