Hey all, I saw something like this in the piano forum, and I thought I`d post it here. What do you guys think is the most beautiful piece you`ve ever heard? Like one that makes you cry every time you hear it? It can be from any genre.
Personally, I think "An American Elegy" by Frank Ticheli takes first place. I welcome your comments.
Thomas

I couldn`t name just one, so I`ll think of a few peices off the top of my head.
 Capriccio sextet- Strauss
 Rite of Spring- Stravinsky
 Lachrymae- Britten
Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis- Vaughan Williams
 Sospiri- Elgar

The last peice I mentioned is short and relatively unknown, but it`s wonderfull!
