I entered the John Lennon contest last year and I felt like I wasted my money. I`m going to try artistweekly.com (`cause it`s cheaper!) but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with contests.

there are a lot out there. are you looking for a "singing" contest or a "songwriting" contest or like a "band" contest to get discovered?? actually used garageband.com, but it isn't a contest really. mostly to get some people noticing the band. idolunderground is another on but they can pretty much get rights to anything you put up. i've actually been to artistweekly. my friend has a song posted there, everyone go there and give it as many flames as possible. the song is called "in the beginning" be derekC. its awesome and needs some positive feedback.
