Hi everyone...can anyone suggest cheerful classical pieces for me to put on the cd player during art classes for 5-9 year-olds? I need pieces that have no surprising mood/volume changes.

A good one that comes to mind is Mozart's variations on "Ah, vous dirai-je Maman" (Twinkle, twinkle, little star). It's mostly in major, with just one or two variations being in the relative minor key. Many pieces that are for/about children may not have the agreeable quality that the Mozart will have.

Sorry for the double post... There are many more that I didn't think of: The Swan (Le Cygne) from Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals (I'm not sure that the other pieces would be suitable), Largo from Winter (The Four Seasons) by Vivaldi, Brahms' Lullaby, & Bach's Air on the G String. These should fit the requirements, and almost any slow piece by Bach would do as well.

Thanks Grieg Bizet....will try the Vivaldi tomorrow. I've never been fond of Bach but it will be interesting to get the kids' opinion.
