Hmm... I was in an origonal play, and there was supposed to be this horde of mosquitos attacking a lion and the oboist took off her reed and squeaked. It made it sound much better.

oboe reeds are awesome... in the beginning band, when all the instruments were split up into different classses(flutes and double reeds, brass, clarinets/sax, percussion) we had to do this thing with headjoints and reeds... when the other oboe player and i squaked our reeds the flutes looked like they would pass out... good times
