Bad news from here...on our way back from our marching band competition last night, we found out that a bus carrying students from American Fork High School (#1 band, our main competition) rolled off the freeway when their driver fell unconscious, killing their assistant band director.

Yeah. When we heard, our whole bus went dead silent, and the ones who were the praying type started praying. (Which was pretty much all of us, I think.) Apparently though, their assistant director was a hero. She took the wheel after the driver went unconscious, and somehow made the impact less deadly. People are speculating that if she hadn't done it, the whole bus would have died. I hope AF makes it to the competition on Tuesday...

Thanks. My band is wearing a red and black (AF colors) ribbon on our uniforms for the rest of the season. And in better news, AF will be marching at the comp on tuesday. They'll have lots of holes though.

Really...and you live on the eastern seaboard...Virginia or North Carolina or something, right? Well, that's kind of cool, in a way. It's spread quite far, I guess.

Yay! At our last competition our band did horrible, and took 3rd with an 88.7. Very uncharacteristic. And Mountain Crest, the school who took second, danced around our buses after. But yesterday we totally PWNED them. We took second with a score of 91.3 and they got an 85.5. They won't be dancing around our buses again, I think.

Cool! Our home comp is this tuesday. Then we go to our rival band's comp, I think.

Hmm... Yes in my opinion. I prefer it to remain at upper 80s.

Yeah, we do a bunch of competitions on Tuesdays. Our next one is this Saturday, then we have BBI at Utah State, followed by Red Rocks, the BOA regional, and a show at Rio Tinto Stadium for the Top of the Mountains Bowl on December 5th. Here's a link to one of our shows this year.

Yay! 4th place at Western Region Finals! And our best BOA score yet. No more marching band though...whatever will I do with my time??
