I`ve been playing flute for about 4 years now and I don`t see what you people think is so hard about it! Sure, the fingerings get a bit tricky once in a while, but have any of you who think its hard played it? Of course...I play the flute so maybe it just doesn`t seem hard for me...

I`m starting bassoon - is it really as hard as people say it is?

Anybody ... ever think ... guitar? or any other non-traditional instruments? Like a Fife or a custom instrument from a different country or custom?

the guitar is easily the hardest instrument to master..... the amount of possible fingering combinations is insane. No one has ever really mastered the guitar in my opinion. With guitar, people master a certain style or a few styles, but never the entire instrument. I`ve heard players play absolutly PERFECT complicated classical music, but hand them an electric guitar and tell them to play some hard rock or metal, and boom, they might as well start from scratch. I know people that play amazing blues and blue grass, but have them try and play some spanish guitar on a nylon stringer.... not even worth handing them the guitar. Then there is knowing the notes.....and the different tunings at the same time.... its a life long job for sure.

I`ve played trombone, trumpet, accordian, sqweeze box, banjo, percussion, violin, and guitar. Violin is a hard one technique wise for sure. So hard to get a perfect sound I found. I still don`t understand the banjo, the blue grass rolling style is the hardest on banjo. I heard the indian citar is very hard to play too.

Wow!Alot of different responces. I have played almost every instrument in the book.. from oboe to french horn.. tuba to percussion. The thing is, that every instrument cannot be judged by one individual as to how hard it is to play. Everyone`s embuchoure id different and everyone is good at one instrument rather then another. I play oboe and french horn and violin, which are all said to be the hardest instruments to play.. yet.. i can play them with ease. For me, the hardest instrument is percussion.. (drum set) as it requires alot of hand eye cordination. Everyone can be good at a particular instrument, and suck at another. Im lucky enough to be able to pick up any instrument and be able to play it. They all take work, flute, clairnet... every instrument can get harder. On every instrument starting out can be difficult if never played before.. its the dedication and practise that makes you a better player and makes it easier to play.. not due to the fact that it may not be "the hardest instrument to play"

If anyone would like to talk about music.. you can add me on msn at -saxchick4eva@hotmail.com.. or e-mail me!
